The importance of a paradigm shift in understanding Christianity and Islam.	Islam and Christianity have different paradigms in which they operate. A difficulty is that Islam also has a paradigm of the religion founded by Jesus, which is different to that used by Christians. By exploring these three paradigms, we seek to explore the necessity of moving from one to another in the quest to understand both faiths.
Christians and Muslims: diverse approaches to the one God.	To affirm that Christians and Muslims worship the same, one and only, God throws up many theological questions. This article traces some of those questions through the common history of the two faiths and seeks to explore diversity in the unity of the one God.
Training for dialogue with Islam.	This position paper was written for a study weekend for Catholic inter-faith advisers from the dioceses of Germany drawing on experience gained in thirty years in Britain. It explores pastoral and theological aspects of the work.

Study Centre at Selly Oak.	Seeks the rationale and spirit behind the founding of the Centre for the Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations at Selly Oak, Birmingham.
Theological Issues in Christian-Muslim dialogue.	A paper presented to the Catholic Theological Association at its annual meeting in Leuven, Belgium, on theological issues in Christian-Muslim dialogue.
Approaching Christian-Muslim Education.	Our concern in this essay is to look at elements of Christian-Muslim education as a sub-set of inter-faith education. We will explore this from the perspective of believers in both faiths, looking both at themselves and at one another. Christian-Muslim education is both a theological and spiritual deepening of my own faith as well as an exploration of the other.
Teaching the Faith of Another: Reflections arising from Britain.	A contribution to a conference in Lahore, Pakistan, on “Contemporary Issues in Religious Education” drawing from the British experience in religious education from schools to life-long learning and considering the theological and educational issues arising.
Christians and Muslims Towards the Future.	Explores the multi-faith nature of contemporary Britain, the prophetic role of religions in a liberal democracy and the contribution that Christianity and Islam could make to discussions about the values that should underpin Britain in the 21st century.
A Common Word: five years on.	This reading guide was developed for the fifth anniversary, in October 2012, of the Open Letter by Muslims to Christians calling them to ‘come to a common word’. It was prepared for a conference to examine the text afresh and consider the developments of the intervening five years.
Questions from The Gambia.	A series of questions were posed, for example: What do you identify as the main obstacles to peaceful co-existence of the adherents of different religions? What is your take on the argument that such efforts are bound to end in failure due to the antagonism of and differences in the core beliefs of the two major religions: Islam and Christianity? Islam has been seen by many in the West as a religion of violence. Is it your view that such perceptions have a basis in reality?
Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kamil.	The meeting between Francis of Assisi, the advocate of spiritual and material poverty, with the Sultan Malik al-Kamil in 1219, a Muslim ruler given to a deep spiritual quest, occurred within the context of Christian crusading. A heart-to-heart encounter took place, which had a profound impact on Francis during the remainder of his life.
Lent and Ramadan.	Fasting is a shared practice in all three of the faiths that have a special place for Abraham in their systems. It has different dimensions in addition to the regulation of eating and drinking: a review of life, seeking forgiveness, a heightened sense of charitable giving and a quest for deeper spiritual awareness, to name but a few.
Theological reflections on Christian and Muslim friendship and working together.	Christians and Muslims often form friendships and work together on projects for the common good of human society. A Christian group asked for some theological reflections to underpin such work and to explore some of the issues thus raised.
